House of Blues San Diego is no stranger to great lineups- I personally have seen some of my favorite big name shows there over the years. But, what’s extra rad is that they also make room in their solid schedule for up-and-coming artists. The venue’s prime location and relatively intimate setting make it a superb spot to see live music from local acts to national touring bands.
Recently I previewed the Three of Clubs Tour featuring Terraplane Sun, Flagship, & Little Daylight (4/24) and Eric Hutchinson with Saints of Valory (4/27) for Downtown News. Read more on those here.
Also in the lineup this week is UK singer-songwriter Daley who will perform his blend of R&B, pop, and soul on Friday (4/25). The young musician, who goes by his last name only, co-wrote and sang on the Gorillaz tune “Doncamatic” in 2010 spurring his career forward. He has since been in high-demand working with other notable artists, including Marsha Ambrosius (who recently played HOB).
His first full-length release, Days & Nights, is just a couple months old and runs the gamut from emotionally-charged numbers (“Broken“) to uplifting flashes (“Good News“). Plus, I’m really hoping he’ll rock his killer square spectacles for the show.
And now for the extra fun part…
Sounds in San Diego has been blessed with a pair of tickets for each of the aforementioned shows from the good folks at LiveNation:
