Some of San Diego’s finest: Ed Ghost Tucker’s new video for ‘Sofia’

As local band Ed Ghost Tucker gains serious momentum it’s time to hop on the EGT train- and here’s just one reason why. Today marks the release of their first official music video for “Sofia” – a labor of love created with SnowGlobe Studios and filmed right here in San Diego.

Below you’ll find a little back story on the filming process from drummer Ryan Miller and the dreamy video which pleasantly matches the delicate melodic tune. Singer Michaela Wilson’s tender vocals are at the forefront of this one –  one more reason they’re one of my absolute favorite bands in town.

It began with the need to re-record the track itself. We holed up in our studio and recorded and mixed the track ourselves over the course of a little over a month. Once we had a mix we felt comfortable with we sent it off to our buddy Keith Milgaten (currently in New York City) for mastering. The production itself was laborious for a multitude of reasons. For one: we braved demolishing Cameron’s [Wilson, bassist] living quarters (the shed in his parents’ backyard) to create a bare and empty space for the shoot to take place. Once empty, we cleaned his floor for the first time (ever), which resulted in the death of only one vacuum. We needed it just clean enough for our hired dancers not to be completely grossed out. They managed.

About Jen Van Tieghem

There aren’t many things I love more than music. While life spins away at a rapid beat I’ve realized it’s important to spend it doing what I love – enjoying music in San Diego. I have a handful of favorite venues, a heart full of favorite bands, and decided to write about it.
