7 Days of Soundsmas in San Diego – Day 2 Featuring Dustin Lothspeich & Cody Thompson

In honor of the holiday season I posed a question to some of my favorite musicians, writers, and fans in the San Diego music scene:

What gift would you like to give to which San Diego musician, or band, and why?

I present to you, the 7 days of Soundsmas in San Diego (click here for past days). As is common with this type of thing the answers run the gamut from insanely funny to wildly creative to deeply poignant. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed compiling them. Take a look and feel free to leave your own gift ideas in the comments below (most creative comment will win a prize!)

Also click around the links of our panelists and their gift recipients. So many good musicians represented- find your new favorite!

Happy holidays to all my readers- may your year’s end be filled with love, laughter, and music.  ♥

Dustin Lothspeich

Associate Editor of SoundDiegopodcast co-host for ThreeBZine.comand guitarist/vocalist/bassist for Boy KingChess WarsDiamond Lakes, and Old Tiger

Since my Boy King bandmate, Megan Liscomb, has decided to accessorize and try her hand electric guitar in her new band, Soft Lions, I think it’s only fitting she should have the best guitar available to prance around with (cuz that’s what girls in bands do, right?):

Also, ever since I’ve been friends with Josh Kmak from The NFormals – he’s been waxing poetic about mid-’60s era Fender Musicmasters. If I had some money and could make it happen, I wish I could give him this:

But I can’t. So no guitar for Josh! BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Writer, editor, and podcast host for ThreeBZine.com

Christmas is a time when you gather with your best friends and the family you can still tolerate to share magical experiences and create memories that will last and live on long after all of us are taken from this Earth. If money and science were not issues, I would give my good buddy Davey from Tiltwheel a time machine. Together we would travel back to when the first pizza was cooked and rage at the first pizza party ever, we would go back and party with dinosaurs and we would spend a weekend playing cards and drinking with Doc Holliday in Tombstone and he would teach us how to hustle nerds. But, since money and science are both an issue… I guess I will just be buying him a beer and giving him a high five this Christmas.

Stay tuned for more gifting tomorrow with posts from a local songstress and two epic music fans.

About Jen Van Tieghem

There aren’t many things I love more than music. While life spins away at a rapid beat I’ve realized it’s important to spend it doing what I love – enjoying music in San Diego. I have a handful of favorite venues, a heart full of favorite bands, and decided to write about it.

  1. […] Thank you to everyone who participated- it’s been a real joy to read these from the hilarity to the heartwarming, y’all brought your A game. I hope everyone enjoyed the ride, discovered some music, and, at very least, saw the party Delorean courtesy of Cody Thompson. […]
